La Pilarica Mexican Pop-Up is to take over the evening shifts at Loafing Café, Well Street Hackney, launching officially on Wednesday 23rd July.
La Pilarica has been created by Federico Perez Diaz and Michael Kutziola. The pair met while running Marco Pierre White’s Frankie’s bar and grill in London Selfridge’s in 2010. They have worked in restaurants together ever since, most recently running Mexican and Argentinean street food stalls at London’s Portobello Market. This will be the first pop-up residency the duo has embarked upon.
Slow cooked sous vide meats will be the focus on the menu with pork belly and short rib beef cooked for 24 hours in La Pilarica spices to enhance flavour and tenderness. The menu will featurea range of Burritos, Mexican salads and Mexican pulled pork burger in a brioche bun. Sides will include quesadillas, tortilla chips, homemade Mexican salsa, guacamole and tacos along with Mexican fruit sodas.
Federico Perez Diaz said; “The idea of La Pilarica is to combine our working knowledge of street food with our understanding of the techniques of molecular cuisine to offer premium organic Mexican food at affordable prices.”
Susie Mc Duell owner of Loafing Cafes said; “In addition to giving our customers an unrivalled daytime experience with the best locally roasted coffee from Flying Horse (London Fields) and artisan French patisserie from our partner bakery Boulangerie Jade, we thought why not give everyone a reason to come back in the evenings too? We will still run our regular Loafing Café offering daily and we now hope to see some friendly faces pop back in the evenings for something different to take away for dinner as well.”
To celebrate the opening, customers can sign up for a special £5 welcome voucher for their first La Pilarica experience offered between 1st – 19th July. Simply follow @loveloafing on instagram and look out for the special offer code.
