Idris Elba’s sitcom In the Long Run is set to return to the screens for a third series this month.

Set in the mid-Eighties, Elba plays car factory worker Walter (based on his father), who lives on an estate with his wife Agnes (Madeline Appiah), their son Kobna (Sammy Kamara) and Walter’s charming but wayward brother Valentine (Jimmy Akingbola), who was dispatched from Sierra Leone to live with Walter at the start of season one.

The third series of this semi-autobiographical comedy, has of Walter’s mum arrive from Sierra Leone and Bagpipes (Bill Bailey) has a near death experience that makes him question the meaning of life.

Elba said: ‘Nothing beats a funny story from someone who was there! I can’t wait for viewers to see series three.’
