This summer, Queen of Hoxton invites you to a long hot summer of tacos, tequila and giant frozen Margaritas on our rooftop bar, inspired by the vibrant town of San Cristóbal in Mexico. Gloriously colourful and hot as a habanero, journey off the beaten track and up our staircase to find the secret hang out of the Luchadoras, the baddest bitches in Mexican female wrestling.
You can expect all fiesta and no siesta as we step into the world of Lola Gonzalez, the rebel Queen of the Lucha Libre movement. Whether your relaxing in the sun-drenched streets under the cool shade of our band-stand, paying homage to your favourite wrestlers, or learning some moves in our wrestling ring (where you’ll also find an arm wrestling stage), you’ll work up a sweat (and a thirst) so head to our back-street bar, where the tacos are filthy-good and the tequila smarts like saddle-burn (and comes with optional edible bugs for the brave.)
As the legendary hero of a million Luchadoras fights; Lola and her band of Luchadoras are teaching a new generation of young women to kick-ass.
Keep an eye out for where this legendary retired wrestling legend has hung her mask …. and come right on in.
As ever we’re planning a series of wild and wonderful events, and this summer we’re excited to welcome Paola Feregrino-Rodriguez as our cultural curator. Paola is a proud Mexican and Londoner; and is working with the Mexican community on authentic events ranging from Trump Pinata Making to feminist embroidery and mezcal and insect tasting. We’ll also be running rooftop day parties with brands including Get Busy, Back to the 90s, Chicken & Beer, Sunshine Soul and Big Fat Hip Hop House Party. See below for full event details.
We’ll also be partnering with the incredible Lucha Libra World offering ringside tickets to The Greatest Show of Lucha Libra at the Roundhouse on the 11th of May. Follow our social pages to enter the competition.
